In all honestly, can a zombie apocalypse happen??:(?

This is in no way a joke. Now, I don't mean the theatrical over done movie zombies, but if that by any means could happen then i guess you could tell me about that too. But, is there a virus like a biochemical weapon or something that can turn us into "zombies" or beings like the people from the crazies?? OR is rabies or something able to be spread in such movies like quarantine? Is it possible that something, some virus, etc. could turn us on each other and make us completely uncivilized, hunting each other like zombies.. eeek.
